Jeeves: Holiday -ep (cd-r)

Favourite Song:

Summer Fun, World is #1

Holiday is third demo cd-r by kotka-based Jeeves and it sounds really adorable. I've heard some great songs from the previous ones (like 'Best Of Boys' and the really marvellous 'Bicycle Song'. The latter had quite awful sounds though), but Holiday is the first Jeeves release that ended up in my record collection. I'm glad it did, because I really like this band. They are quite young and have still a lot to learn, but they can already get things done. And when it comes to indiepop, the point for me is always the songs and some occasional hints of clumsiness doesn't really take anything away from the music. The songs are quite good indeed. There's no total killers, but I do like all of them. My own favourites are sunny 'Summer Fun' and 'World is #1'. Summer Fun is kind of a basic slow pop song with nice vocal melodies. Something I've heard a few million times before but can't wait for the next million. The opening track 'World is #1' has a wider range of idears and the song is mighty awesome. So is 'My Days' too. Anssi's soft and warm voice is like made for this kind of music (just like his big brother's voice). 'After All' has a great chorus, but those arrangements could be better. Someone should have removed those howls (hmm, where's my english dictionary, can't find a better word for it). I find those really annoying. Otherwise it's a great demo and I will eagerly wait the future releases of Jeeves. Things look very promising.
