Graceskull: Happiness

Favourite Song:

The Building Blocks Of Falling Apart, Surrender, Trains Pass By, Push...ah basicly the whole album.

Hats off, boys and girls. Just when I stated that I won't give the best possible points to all the albums that I review, these bastards go and release an album which is so utterly wonderful and full of honest, hearfelt and beautiful music. Yeah. I knew Graceskull is a good band. I liked their first album quite a lot, The only live performance which I had seen was pretty excellent, but still I didn't even in my dreams expect their second album 'Happiness' to be so fabulous than what it turned out to be. Their debut album 'First Time Again' showed a lot of talent and it had some excellent songs, but the minor flaw was that it wasn't really that consistent. 'Happiness' takes it all a bit further. First of all. It's an integrated whole. There's enough variation to keep one interested, but it still is very consistent and each song fits perfectly to this damn fine album. The album is brimming with greatness. Restful 'The Building Block Of Falling Apart' stirs your soul, dynamic should-be hit 'Surrender' hit you in the heart, 'Push' is bursting with melody and uplifting and sincere 'Trains Pass By' (maybe Ove's best lyrics so far) ends the album in glorious way. Ove's vocals are wonderful. Some other review said that he isn't really that good as a singer. I disagree. Well maybe he doesn't have the strongest voice and he probably isn't the most technical vocalist around, but his voice fits nicely to this softly floating music and reveals the full charm and feel of it. Remarkable and dazzlingly beautiful album.
