The Frost: First demo

Favourite Song: Seniors

The Frost is one of the most interesting new Finnish bands. I'm not sure what their musical backgrounds are (In fact I don't know much more about them than what's on the band's website), but this certainly doesn't sound like a 'first demo'. After Harry Hunk/ultrasport drummer and all-around nice guy Olli Moilanen recommended this band, I went to their website and I was immediately hooked. The highest point of this fine demo is a track called 'Seniors'. This pretty and hearfelt 'Belle & Sebastian-like' song with longing and a bit sad lyrics is somewhat excellent and for me it is one of last year's very best songs (I think It ended up as number 6 on my list). Another stunner is the opening track 'Tying Rope Song'. While these two are kind of basic indie pop songs the other two (Math Girl and Song About Us) have some electronic elements as well. In fact, The Frost introduces themselves on their site as a small electronic-indie band. Obviously the basic indie pop stuff is closer to my own music taste, but still also these other two songs are very charming and the demo as whole is a total blinder. All the songs available also on their site. Check out the link below. And don't forget The Frost's fabulous soulmates Le Futur Pompiste and Cats On Fire.
