Year 2011 Round Up Part 2: Jason Isbell, Austin Lucas, Lauderdale, Brown Bird

Continuing with the highlights of the year 2011. I started with the unhurried side of music (like Slowcoustic describes it). Now I’m kicking it up a a tiny notch, but the quality remains equally high. Still very much in the folk, country and americana zone, but don’t worry. Some pop hits will be coming up as well (even though that “finnish pop site” slogan is getting a little questionable these days). Like previously mentioned. The full best songs/albums/reissues lists coming up late december. Without further pointless crap. Here’s again four great songs from the year 2011.

Video of the Day #76: Brown Bird

I already wrote about the new Brown Bird album Salt For Salt a couple of months ago, but the album is actually coming out later this week. I just pre-ordered my copy tonight and got the download. I only quickly browsed through a couple of songs, so no opinions just high expectations at this point. But I know what I will be doing at work tomorrow. I will listen to this album, because good music makes hard physical work so much easier. Anyway, I just saw this great live video of Brown Bird playing Thunder & Lightning at WBUR studios and really enjoyed it. The song is also on the new album.

These great tracks are also on the new album.

Brown Bird – Salt For Salt

Brown Bird duo from Rhode Island is getting prepared to release a new album Salt For Salt. The album will hit the stores and your heart in october, but the first single Fingers To The Bone is already available. In general, their dark folk might seem a bit scary for a pop fan at first, but in the end the quality of the songs won my heart over. Fingers To The Bone is such a great song. I’m looking forward to the album.
