OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #305

Weekend was again heavy with live music, so I didn’t have whole lot time or energy to listen new music. But here’s what I managed to gather.

There’s new albums from Fightmilk, Andrew Gabbard, Dorothea Paas, Yuma Abe, Winter McQuinn & Acacia Pip (EP), Casual Technicians, Red Sleeping Beauty, Assistant, Minky Starshine, Continental Lovers, Gold Star, Lily Seabird (acoustic EP), William Matheny (EP), Eilen Jewell and Caleb Klauder & Reeb Willms.

New great Bad Sauna album leads the Finnish part of this. I also want to hightlight the awesome debut singles from Kirsikkapuu, Ullalintulampi and Pihalla. The other Finnish gems are singles from Samae Koskinen, Ne Lintuizet, Nina Kaitaranta, Jere Ijäs, J.Karjalainen and Ananas.

Some early faves from the international singles category came from Sunny War feat Steve Ignorant, Will Stewart, Ryan Necci & The Buffalo Gospel, Matt Paxton, The Laughing Chimes and Joni. Again just to name a few.

A bit slow release week. I guess we all need some time to recover. Dark times. Thankfully there’s music.

I’ve been really loving the ALVILDA album that came out a couple of weeks ago (credit to RSTB where I discovered it). This week we have new albums from Fleur, Silver Sun, Speed Circuit, Alex Dupree (reissued), John R. Miller (EP), Bananagun, Brooks and Bowskill, Klara Goliger and amelia courthouse (a couple of months old, but just found it). Oh and a great Margo Guryan celebration compilation.

A bunch of great Finnish albums too from Henna Emilia Hietamäki, Minkki, Jonatan Snapir and Mikko Juvonen (well this one was last week, but somehow I forgot to include it). Also new singles from Bad Sauna, Emilia Sisco and Cold Diamond & Mink, Tuomo & Markus feat Verneri Pohjola, Esa Linna and Carla Aakre.

Some early faves on the international singles category came from Malin Pettersen, Dom Mariani, Abe Partridge, Clara Mann, Continental Lovers, Gabi Hartmann. Again just to name a few.

What a strong release week so late in the year. Jennifer Castle, Haley Heynderickx and Mt. Misery can share the album of the week honors. Love all of them. New Andrew Bryant album was a great surprise. I didn’t see that coming, but excited to put that on heavy rotation next week. Then there’s also new albums from Max Bien Kahn, Zachary Lucky, Mount Eerie, Sam Blasucci, Lee Baggett, Trust Fund, Brower, Peter Perrett, Charlie Kaplan, Jeremie Albino, Loose Cattle, W.C. Beck, Austin Stambaugh, Garrett Owen, Julia Logan, Rachel Sermanni (EP) plus a Richard Swift compilation.

Equally big Finnish release week too led by the awesome new Viive and Jari Raaste albums. But that’s just tiny part of it, because we also have new albums from Peissu, Jere Valkonen, Ville-Veikko Airaniemi and Ruotomieli plus a STINAKO EP. Not to forget the new singles from Sonja Selene, Orvokki, UTU, Waver, Punomo, Ville Leinonen and Time Flies. Oh and managed to miss the album by Kansalainen on last week’s round up, so it’s here now because I like it a lot.

A new double single from Evan J Cartwright is one of the many gems on the international single category. Other early faves there came from Emma Munger, Renee Reed and K.C. Jones. Just to name a few.
