OCTA 18th Anniversary – Anthony Atkinson

Next our anniversary celebration flies over to down under and more precisely Melbourne, Australia. The songs of Anthony Atkinson have been part of this blog since the mid 00s when I first fell in love with the solo albums he put out at the time and I’m thrilled to have him joining this event. Anthony’s first choice Calm and Collected comes from his 2014 album Broken Folks that he made with his band The Running Mates. I had the honor of premiering the music video of the studio version of this song, which you can locate from this link. Stay on the lookout for an encore later during the anniversary week. It will take us further back into the history of this little music blog.

OCTA 18th Anniversary – Harry Hunks

Back in Finland for a beautiful blast from the early days of the blog. The somewhat or at least should-be legendary Finnish indie pop band Harry Hunks had a reunion and simultaneously recorded a video for this anniversary festival. We are all a little older now, but thankfully just as charming as 18 years ago. Here’s Harry Hunks with a song called Happy Birthday and be on the lookout for an encore later during these festivities.

Not a whole lot of links for them anymore in this internet thing-y, but here’s a studio version for The Guy Who Makes Horses Run And The Frogs Fly from youtube.

OCTA 18th Anniversary – Micah Schnabel

Anniversary celebration continues in Columbus, Ohio with one of my long time favourite songwriters Micah Schnabel. His band Two Cow Garage also just hit 18 years, so big congratulations to one of the finest rock’n’roll bands around. Besides that awesome band, I fully recommend all his solo records and his debut novel Hello, My Name Is Henry. Micah Schnabel’s wonderful song for this online festival is called How To Ride A Bike. Here’s to being alive.
