OCTA 18th Anniversary – Jeremy Squires

The birthday festival continues in New Bern, North Carolina with a long time favorite and friend Jeremy Squires. I found him when his Central Nervous Station EP came out back in 2013 and have since been a big fan of his beautiful and haunting folk songs. The first song of his that I ever loved is called A Warm Glow and Jeremy Squires was kind enough to send a live version of that particular song. Watch it below and stay tuned. There will also be an encore later during this anniversary week.

OCTA 18th Anniversary – Vanessa Peters

Our next destination on this birthday party is Dallas, Texas. Songwriter Vanessa Peters has been releasing wonderful albums and songs for decade and a half. Her latest album Foxhole Prayers was one of my personal favorites of 2018. It’s a powerful and inspiring folk rock album that tackles important issues. An album that has a good heart. Therefore I’m proud to share a live version of album cut Trolls on this event. You’ll find the studio version of this song and the whole great back catalogue from her Bandcamp page.

OCTA 18th Anniversary – V. Härkönen

The first Finnish songwriter of day 3 is someone who has been on this blog pretty much throughout the whole 18 years. The formerly Joensuu and currently Helsinki-based songsmith Ville Härkönen has previously led bands such as Maryland, Ville Härkönen & Velvet, Samettivallankumous, Piilomaa and Sonik. Nowadays he is making solo material as V. Härkönen and during the first half of 2019 he released a couple of singles on Soit Se Silti. His choice for this festival is the latest single Ilman karttaa.
