OCTA 18th Anniversary – Tomi Nordlund & Syvä Joki

Next we bring our party gear to Tampere, Finland and take things relatively easy with Tomi Nordlund & Syvä Joki. This excellent folk rock band released a new album Viisi Vuotta Myöhemmin early in the year and gathered together to play a beautiful acoustic version of album track Olen täällä sinua varten. I’d also like to use this opportunity to thank Tomi Nordlund for all the work he does as the co-owner of one of my favorite Finnish record labels Soit Se Silti. They’ve really given a platform to a lot great artists during the recent years and would deserve a some kind of culture award for their efforts. But that’s kind of another story. Here’s the band Tomi Nordlund & Syvä Joki and their marvellous contribution to this festival. If you want hear more of them a good place to start is watching this music video for another album song called Yhä Vain.

OCTA 18th Anniversary – Matt Woods

Matt Woods from Knoxville, Tennessee is currently touring all over Europe with his band and I’m honored that he still found the time and energy to be a part of this birthday celebration. His wonderful new album Natural Disasters came out on the 28th of June and his festival number is an acoustic live in Spain version of the gorgeous opening song Blue-Eyed Wanderer. You can hear/buy the studio version of this song and the whole album on his bandcamp. Joey Kneiser also made a great music video for this, so check that out here after his festival performance.

OCTA 18th Anniversary – Faustina Masigat

Welcome to the second half of the anniversary week. The celebration begins at Mama Bird HQ in Portland, Oregon with an enchantingly beautiful performance from singer-songwriter Faustina Masigat. Her captivating festival song is an unreleased one called Your Love Anymore. If you want to hear more of her songs, follow the link below to find her excellent self-titled album that came out a year ago on my favorite record label, Mama Bird Recording Co. Oh and make sure you watch until the very end, because the one and only Lyle the Intern makes a guest appearance. I’ve loved following Lyle’s adventures over the recent years and I’m very honored to have both Faustina Masigat and Lyle the Intern taking a part in this birthday party.
