A quick video post for tonight. Last year I discovered Swiss band Black Sea Dahu thanks to my FB friend Karen and I’m becoming more addicted to their music every single day. I could listen to the live at FluxFM version of In Case I Fall For You and this new single How You Swallowed your Anger all day long. Here’s a Berlin sessions video of my favourite song in the world today. It’s an outtake from their forthcoming EP No Fire in the Sand that is due out on the 27th of September on Mouthwatering Records.

Next up is the new music video from one of my favorite albums of the year. Who’s Gonna Make My Mistakes is an outtake from Caroline Spence’s brilliant album Mint Condintion that is out now on Rounder Records. Here’s some sweet and clumsy love in form of a music video that was directed by Steve Voss.

There’s a new and most likely wonderful Kacy & Clayton album on the horizon. Carrying On will drop into the record stores and our hearts on the 4th of October. A couple of singles are already out and available on New West Records. Sunny Adams directed a great music video for this second single The Forty-Ninth Parallel.

And finally a small step back to Mariachi Static. It’s an album by Izaak Opatz that originally came out in 2017 and then Mama Bird Recording Co reissued it in the summer of 2018. However, it’s definitely worthy of a revisit any day just because it’s so damn good. This time there’s an additional reason. Michael T. Workman directed a fabulous new music video for album cut Not Yet.

Four Arms to Hold You is an ongoing feature with a weird name. It might not contain a whole lot of words, but it does contain a whole lot of love towards the featured songs. Basicly this is just four albums / songs / artists that have done their part in holding me together and therefore I want to tell the world or the seven readers of this blog how much I love them. Not entirely sure do these kind of posts serve any kind of purpose and I do hope I manage to write longer posts too. Right now it just feels like the playlists and these kind of short posts are the only way to keep this dear hobby alive. Plus it’s really the music that matters, not my random ramblings and these posts will always contain magical music.

Midsummer is around the corner, but first one of these quick round up posts of songs that I love. This time I’m almost up-to-date, because these are all fabulous songs / videos that have been released within a week or two.

Tonight’s journey begins from Nashville, Tennessee with the new Michaela Anne single By Our Design. She was signed by Yep Roc a while ago and they will release her new album Desert Dove on the 27th of September. I have really high expectations for this one, because I just saw her play live at STHLM Americana last weekend and I loved her concert. The new single is also wonderful and comes with a very sweet music video. The mutual love shines in each frame and each line of their own design. Plus there’s a really lovely cat on the video. I think I will return to this album several times during the coming months.

Moving on to Los Angeles for another album that I’m waiting eagerly. It’s Jason Hawk Harris album Love & the Dark that will come out on Bloodshot Records on the 23rd of August. The first single Cussing at the Light surfaced yesterday and Stanley Sievers directed a gorgeous music video for the song.

Traveling on to Hamilton, Ontario for the new EP from long time blog favourite Matt Paxton. He has a new band called The Rumblings of Spring and the self-titled debut EP actually came out today on the 21st of June. It’s available on their Bandcamp as name-your-price download, so what are we waiting. Let’s pick a price and we’ll be awarded with some first class Canadian indie rock. Here’s the exceptional music video Kyle McCreight made for the opening song Tidal Waves.

Last destination for tonight is 2018 and Montana. Hermina Jean’s excellent Hot Grey EP came out almost a year ago, but there’s a couple of good reasons to revisit it. 1) Alana Waksman directed a great new music video for the album closer I Know Nothing 2) It’s just so damn good that any day is a good day to listen to it.

A couple more of these still to come and then I’ll get back to the more normal update frequency. This time this is a bit of a suited up country & western special. Beginning the trip from Malmö, Sweden with the latest The Country Side of Harmonica Sam single My First Broken Heart (Since My Last Broken Heart) that came out on El Toro Records on the 16th of May. A mighty good band if you are into real country music, honky tonk and 50s rock’n’roll.

Next location is almost a world away in Laramie, Wyoming. Country singer-songwriter is Shawn Hess a completely new find one for me and I didn’t know him before this album came out on the 24th of May. Records like World Away is actually the reason why it makes sense for me to make the weekly playlist. I find treasures like this when I’m searching for all the possible interesting new releases every weekend. There’s a lot of excellent country songwriting and storytelling on this one. A pretty broken-hearted collection of songs for sure, but still so damn enjoyable.

The world tour takes this blog entry to Tamworth, Australia. This is also taking a step towards more modern territories like indie rock, but the country storytelling tradition definitely isn’t absent from this one either. Snowpine is a new album by Charlie Collins and it came out on 31st of May on Mirror Records. Here’s an excellent live versio of album track Mexico.

Tonight’s journey ends in Nashville, Tennessee with a song from the new self-titled Charlie Marie EP that came out on the 3rd of May. Ok, maybe that’s not a suit, but the EP is wonderful, full of country sounds and engaging storytelling and is therefore not a bad fit with the other Charlie and the gentlemen. The magnificent opener Rhinestones wraps up this little blog entry.
