Onechord.net turns 15: J.E. Sunde – A Blinding Flash of Light

sunde

A Blinding Flash Of Light by J.E. Sunde was a huge addiction a couple of years ago and while I might not be listening to it every day anymore, I still hold it in extremely high regard. This song became a part of who I am and I will carry it with me as long as I live. If this site still exists in 2020 and I decide to pick the top 50 songs of the decade or something, I’m confident that this will be among my first picks. The whole album Shapes that Kiss the Lips of God is a treasure and this song is the brightest diamond on it. The album came out on Cartouche Records back in 2014. Also the earlier The Daredevil Christopher Wright stuff is awesome. Oh and the song Rabbit Rag and I that isn’t on this album is also unearthly brilliant. I can’t wait to hear more music from J.E.Sunde.

And here’s a music video for the song Easy Kid as a bonus.

Onechord.net reaches 15 years on September 17. Leading up to that, I will be sharing some songs that I hold dear. Songs that I’ve loved the most during the years I’ve been making this. So basicly just some nostalgic crap, but with a damn brilliant soundtrack.

Joey Kneiser & Kelly Smith 7″

image

Hold the press, we have major news! There’s new music from Joey Kneiser & Kelly Smith. Seven inch split single coming up 23rd of September on Different Folk Records. Joey wrote both songs and sings one side and Kelly sings the other side. Kelly’s side is called Lost in The Wind and it’s already available in form of a magnificent music video. It’s an incredibly powerful song dedicated to everyone who has lost a sibling. Even though I knew it’s going to be special even before hitting the play button, it still took my breath away and stopped the time. Ever since I heard it, I’ve just been listening to it over and over again. You can watch the video below and pre-order the 7″ from Different Folk Records.

Onechord.net turns 15: Simon Joyner – Nostalgia Blues

simonjoyners

File under the best albums of the decade. Simon Joyner’s Grass, Branch & Bone is a masterpiece. You might remember that I praised this a couple of times last year when it came out on Woodsist. I loved it then and my feelings have only grown stronger during the past year. It’s the only 2015 release that I still listen to on a weekly basis and find it thrilling, moving and beautiful each and every time. If there are songwriting schools, this album should be a mandatory lesson. Somewhere in the crossroad of Lou, Leonard & Townes and filled with absolutely wonderful songs. All songs are winners, but I need to go with Nostalgia Blues on this pointless anniversary thingy, because it’s the first song I heard from the album and instantly fell in love with it. Old Days, Jefferson Reed.. Oh well.. all of them are equally amazing. Grass, Branch & Bone has pretty much been my favourite album in the world during the past few months.
