I’m still way behind with these blog writings. Here’s an album that I’ve been enjoying all summer long. It’s the new and excellent Big Shoals album Hard Lessons. Big Shoals are from Gainesville, Florida and have created a pretty convincing americana album. Some of it is highly entertaining and some of it is very moving. Here’s an example from both categories. Union Son and You Ain’t Nothing Like The Girls Back Home. You can guess which one falls into which category. Obviously most songs fall into both categories. Union Son features mr. Todd Beene from the Glossary fame on pedal steel. Hard Lessons came out July 15th and can be bought from their website.

Super useful advice! I’m currently evaluating whether making the leap from a ‘pocket money’ blog to a more serious money-making blog is the right step for me, and this article has really helped clear things up a little more. Thanks very much!
Thanks for the informative post! I’m also in the process of starting my own spiritual travel blog and was wondering…how did you find other bloggers who were new to start a Facebook group? I agree with Renata in her comment above; all the bloggers I see on social media are well established and not beginners like me.
Sometimes I feel like the most popular blogs (not yours of course) have such a plasticly perfect curated look that is well shot but boring. It is tricky to show your blog’s unique visual voice in a way that is clean and engaging, even if the content doesn’t fit the more mainstream “trendy” blogger look. Thank you for the inspiration to keep going.
