Next up my favorite songs of the year 2024. The international edition. As usual this is pretty much just a giant playlist for the onechordnet history books, because all the on-going playlists will move to 2025. But here’s some sort of top 10 to go with the playlist. After that everything is in completely random order and I’m sure there’s stuff still missing. The trouble with the mega lists is that at some point I just completely lose track what I’ve added and what I haven’t and therefore something important might be missing, because I assumed it’s already there. So feel free to send hate mail, if your song is missing. It’s most likely by accident.
Office Culture’s album was my big late addiction of 2024 and it has at least half a dozen songs that I love dearly. It might not be the kind of stuff I feature the most, so it might be a little bit surprising #1. Not completely out of the blue though. Heck, even the previous Office Culture album made my AOTY list. But yeah, while there’s actually several songs that could be the song of the year, it was the heart of the album Was I Cruel that really opened the floodgates and after that it was nothing but love. So that’s my song of the year.
The number #2 might a little surprising too, but VanWyck knocked it out of the park with Another to Do and it landed right into my heart. Lou Hazel’s County Clown is also a huge favorite. That also has the best song and music video combination. The video just matches every line in the song. What a beautiful work of art. I could throw any The Lostines song here too, but let’s go with the wonderful opener A Tear. It was probably on an earlier song of the year list too, but whatever. Loved it when the single came out and still love it now that the album is here. And of course everything else mentioned below or featured on the playlist is also wonderful. I think with songs it’s even more ridiculous to make a list, because there’s hundreds that feel worthy. So I don’t really know are the next 10 my absolute favorite songs of the year, but I do know that I love all of them.
