OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #279

A bit delayed new music weekly once again, but here it finally is.

New Myriam Gendron is the album of the week. Other big early faves are the new ones from Josienne Clarke, Jake Nicoll and Jackie West. Then there’s also great new albums from Pokey LaFarge, Abigail Lapell, Chris Kasper, Todd Farrell Jr (bandcamp last week, now streaming too), Kelsey Waldon, Shannon & The Clams, Stripmall Ballads (EP), Amy O, Austin Miller, Alice Carolyn, Stephen’s Shore (EP) and Arlo McKinley (EP).

The Finnish section is quite short this time around, but it’s still a really special one. ITE EEROLA is probably my absolute favorite songwriter these days and the first single from the forthcoming album is again wonderful. Simple and bare, but at the same time very powerful. Love it to bits. There’s also a new single from Hattara and I love them too. This dream pop / shoegaze band is one of my fave new bands and every song so far has been a winner. This one is not an exception. So good and can’t wait to hear more from them. There’s also a great new album from Kaksipäinen koira and singles from Helmi Ada and Cats of Transnistria plus a few revisits from the past week at the end (Nightbird and Amuri).

New Eamon Fogarty is the international song of the week. That’s going to be such a magnificent album. Other early single faves came from New Starts (Darren Hayman’s new thing), Quivers, Erin Rae, Yea-Ming and The Rumours, Rachel Brooke, Dominic Angelella, Hello Shark and many others.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. Back next week at some point. A pretty busy weekend, so don’t know when exactly. Love love love.

A few Bandcamp cuts for the lovely non-streamers:

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to other platforms. This means a few tracks might be missing from the from the other platforms, if they are not available there. Oh and there’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
