A big week in the power pop realm of things, because we have a new Hurry album out there. That’s the album of the week along with the new Bonnie Prince Billy. We also have new albums from Cordovas, Croy and the Boys, Lost Patterns, Abby Posner, Raye Zaragoza, Rae Spoon, Jason Eady, Canadian Sweetmen (EP), Andrew Sisk, The Bird Calls, Les Imprimes and Michael Darling. Also included three power pop albums at the end that have been released over the summer, but I missed them at the time. These are Kid Gulliver, The Make Three and The Summertimes.
From Finland there’s wonderful singles from Hulda Huima, Tero-Petri, Sepänkadun Köyhät ja Nöyryytetyt, Lyyti, Paavoharju and Vasas flora och fauna.
International song of the week is the new Kelly Sloan single. Can’t wait to hear her full-length album. Other early favorites came from Adeline Hotel, Skyway Man, Margo Cilker, Tre Burt, Thomas Walsh, Teenage Fanclub, MJ Lenderman (well kinda new, still great), Lauren O’Connell and so forth.
