OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #217

Another week, another new music weekly.

Oh hey, this is back on Apple Music too. At least for a while. Most likely not permanently. But as for now, it’s Tidal, Spotify and Apple Music. Still a bit slow on the album front, but there’s a whole lot of singles from forthcoming albums.

Early on I’ve spent most time with the beautiful Nighttime album. Other great album releases this week came from Bobbie Lovesong, Fran, Guided By Voices, Patter (EP), Glyders, Lauds, The Bad Ends, Dave Rowntree, Danny Arakaki, Siv Jacobsen, The Coral Sea, Megadose, Joel Sarakula, The John Sally Ride and Kathryn Brooks (EP).

The Finnish section is a strong one this week. Highlights are the big album releases from MeriTuuli (Finnish poems set to folk music. So beautiful) and SaintPolis (Finnish americana and alt.country). Love them both. A couple of EPs too from Jantso Jokelin and Too Slow. Plus new singles from Teini-Pää, Maustetytöt, Särkyneet, Pastis, ILMA, Jorilee and The Southgates.

The three boygenius songs are the big ones internationally. I just put one on the playlist, but all are wonderful. Other personal favorites came from Dakota Theim, Jenny O, Ron Sexsmith, Bonny Doon, Andy Shauf, Tiny Ruins, Theo Lawrence, Nico Paulo, Steady Holiday, and Lachlan Denton. Again just to name a few. They are all worthy of a listen and it’s too early to tell which will even become my own favorites in the long run.

That’s all for this week. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. Love from a distance.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to Tidal. This means a few tracks might be missing from the Tidal version, if they are not available on that platform. Usually it’s 1-3 tracks that are not on Tidal. There’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
