OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #180

Another week, another new music weekly.

Sorry for the delay. I’ve been day-to-day with non-covid illness since Thursday. Still not fully recovered, but slowly getting there. At least I managed to put this thing together. It might not be a very deep dive and I’m sure a lot is missing. But here it goes anyway.

Icarus Phoenix, Carla Geneve and VanWyck are my big three of the week. We also got great new albums from Renata Zeiguer, Zachary Cole, Matt Gold, Good Looks, Oceanator, Glory Daze (EP), River Whyless, Madeleine Kelson, Kate Rhudy, Ryan Egan, Dillon Vanders, Calexico and Father John Misty. A few other things too. Pete Mancini has a new album that is not yet streaming plus Mo Troper’s power pop monster from 2021 is now out on vinyl. Check those two out on Bandcamp for example.

Very small Finnish section this time around. There’s an album from Hanna-Maria Lifländer plus singles from Itä-Hollola Installaatio, Bobby Oroza and Pastis. I’m sure there had to be more.

And last but not least the new international singles. Plenty of great ones there. Very fond of the new ones from Joan Shelley, Layten Kramer, Teenage Fanclub, Matt Dorrien, Kyle Cox, S.G. Goodman, Arlo McKinley, Scott Ballew, Mila Webb, The Reds, Pinks and Purples, Thee Illusions, The Deslondes… and the list goes on and on and I might as well name check everything.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. Next week is Easter. I probably will do this anyway, but I have no idea whether that will be on Saturday, Sunday or Monday. We’ll see. Too close to 200 to stop anyway. Maybe that would be a good round number to quit this crazy project and do something else with my weekends. Love from a distance.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to Tidal. This means a few tracks might be missing from the Tidal version, if they are not available on that platform. Usually it’s 1-3 tracks that are not on Tidal. There’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
