Another week, another weekly playlist.
Thank you for the ones who keep on following the playlist during these times and thank you music for keeping me relatively sane.
The big album releases for me were the new ones from Sylvia Rose Novak and Adeline Hotel. Sylvia Rose Novak did appear on this playlist in 2018, but sadly I still didn’t pay enough attention to the full album at the time. All the advance singles of this new record have been on this playlist and I’ve loved them all. This time I won’t let the album pass me by. Adeline Hotel is a long time favourite and they continue to create charming albums. Other great album releases of the week came from Andrew Hibbard, Brian Wright & The Sneakups, Aquakultre, Evan Myall and Modern Studies. Lawrence County and Karl Harvey albums came earlier in the spring, but they are on this playlist for the first time. There’s a few mighty good EPs too from Will Stewart and Monteagle.
The Finnish section is strong this time around. Viljami Kukkonen is a huge favorite of mine, so his new single was the brightest star for me. However, there’s also gorgeous album releases from Hermaja, Pöllöt and Guggenheim-projektz. Plus singles from Bizzarro & Jukka Nissinen, Matti Jasu and Love Sport.
As for singles, there’s plenty to love. The best music news of the week was that Secretly Canadian signed Le Ren and their beautiful journey together started with a rerelease of the single Love Can’t Be the Only Reason to Stay. One of the songs I loved the most during 2019. Leah Senior’s new single might be slightly different than her earlier work, but equally wonderful. If not even more so, but I’m not sure is that even possible, because I love her older albums. Anna Ash made a really beautiful cover of Keep Me From Blowing Away and then there’s strong new cuts from Jenny O, Julie Arsenault, Joshua Ray Walker, Christian Lee Hutson, Becca Mancari, Dan Reeder and Tommy Alexander albums. Oh and a new song from Jason Sinkhorn, debut single from Kyle Nix and what about that sweet return of Snowgoose. Also the first single from the new solo acoustic version of Anna Tivel’s 2019 treasure The Question. And lots more.
That’s it for this week. All the best to everyone who reads this. I hope you are safe and sound. Love from a distance.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you
If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because a) if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each Sunday b) so that I don’t have a trillion of different playlists on my Spotify account.
