OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #320

Another week, another new music weekly. Music blogger never rests. Two days of music festival and then a whole lot of new music listening on Sunday. This was a fast effort though and a bit of a grind. I didn’t have to go through emails or such. So I’m sure there’s stuff missing, but here’s what I managed to put together.

There’s new albums from Hannah Cohen, Lucky Cloud, Dean Wareham, Rachel Brooke, Pug Johnson, Cactus Lee, Destroyer, Garrett T. Capps, Jetstream Pony, Butler, Blake & Grant, Anna St. Louis, Lucy Dacus, Ruby Gill, Kathleen Edwards (covers), Mess Esque, Sarah Quintana, Sure Fire Soul Ensemble, Celeste Madden (EP), Stuart Pearce and Guy Capecelatro III & Mike Effenberg.

Some big album releases from Finland too. The Moontwins (PK Keränen & Leija Lautamaja), J. Karjalainen, The Snake, 1980 AD and Helmi Ada. Plus singles from Cult of Stenman, Isse, Brian and Suad.

Some early faves on the international singles category came from The Deep Dark Woods, Why Dogs Why, M Ross Perkins, Mitch Dillon’s Compulsive Ramblers, Colin Miller, Attention Bird Utopia, Julie Arsenault & Aaron Comeau…. just to name a few as usual.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. Last week the Spotify version reached 1000 followers at least temporarily, which was nice because that was my long term goal and I wanted to get there before I quit. Of course the numbers are kinda arbitrary and somewhat pointless vanity metrics and any kind of actual interactions with artists and listeners matter much more than any kind of number. Still nice to see that number slowly rising too. So thank you. Back next week with another one of these. Love.

A few Bandcamp cuts for the lovely non-streamers:

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to other platforms. This means a few tracks might be missing from the from the other platforms, if they are not available there. Oh and there’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.
