Another more than a little bit overwhelming release week. About 30 new albums on this one and most likely still missed some good ones.
Long time favorites Christian Lee Hutson, VanWyck and Adeline Hotel can share the album of the week honors. There’s also new ones from Andre Ethier, Big Share, Jenina MacGillivray, Ilia Nicoll (EP from April, but Jenina led me to this), Styrofoam Winos, Feeling Figures, Best Bets, John Davis (from Superdrag), Naima Block, Merce Lemon, Trace Mountains, Auguste Patino, Kate Bollinger, Leif Vollebekk, Luke De-Sciscio, Julian Taylor, Billy Strings, The Bobby Tenderloin Universe, Selland & Starr, Rayvon Pettis, Spectator Bird, Jeffrey Alexander and the Heavy Lidders, Jake Blount & Mali Obomsawin and Kolumbo. That took a while to type, let alone listen.
The Finnish part was pushed to the late twenties on the playlist by that flood of international albums, but there’s plenty to love here as well. The big ones are the awesome new albums from Pekka Laine & The Enchanted and Susanna Leppänen. Then there’s also a bunch of gorgeous singles from Mikko Juvonen, Kansalainen, Peissu feat Jenna-Marie Laine, Henna Emilia Hietamäki, Lintudisko, Monsuuni and The Wrong Car.
International single of the week is the new beauty from Jennifer Castle. Other early faves came from Lou Hazel, Sam Blasucci, Dakota Theim, St. Lenox, Erisy Watt, Michael Cloud Duguay… again just to name a few.
