OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #259

I made a surprise return to Apple Music a couple of days ago. Most likely just a temporary thing, but for a month or two this new music weekly and the forthcoming year-end round ups will be on Apple as well (and Tidal and Spotify as usual). I just wanted to give Apple another test run while I ponder my options.

A pretty quiet release week, because it’s Thanksgiving in the US. So this playlist is shorter than usual (did I hear a sigh of relief). There’s new albums from Ian M Bailey, Wurld Series, Guided By Voices, Feeling Figures and Haley Heynderickx & Max Garcia Conover (Fifth Anniversary Edition). Plus a pretty cool Light in the Attic compilation.

A bit busier here in Finland. There’s new albums from Orvokki, (Sulut), Musta Huone and Grant Wood Company. All great in their own way. So far I’ve spent most time with (Sulut) and I really like that one. A bunch of singles too from The Wonderminers, Juppe, Inginmaa/Hypnomen, Kaita Isäri Seppälä and Slack Bird. A new song from The Wonderminers is always a big deal and that is probably my favorite song of the week altogether.

A few international single gems too like a double from Mike and The Moonpies. Other faves came from Bonnie Prince Billy, Smith and Tegio, Lola Wild and BMX Bandits.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. You can do that now on Apple too. It all matters. Back next week with another one of these. That might be the last new music weekly for 2023. Maybe I’ll do the week 49 too, if there’s a lot of new stuff. We’ll see. EOTY stuff will take some time and I need a break too at some point. But 1 or 2 weeks the normal way. Love love love.

A few Bandcamp cuts for the lovely non-streamers:

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to Tidal. This means a few tracks might be missing from the Tidal version, if they are not available on that platform. Usually it’s 1-3 tracks that are not on Tidal. There’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
