OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #258

A busy weekend at the Indie-Iltamat indoor festival, but here’s the new music I managed to listen. I’m sure I missed a lot of stuff.

New Matthew “Doc” Dunn is the album of the week. Other great album releases this week came from Bastards of Soul, Frog, Jon Rauhouse & Blaine Long, Mo Troper (Jon Brion covers), Spearmint, Jeremy Squires, Dori Freeman, Niclas Frisk & The 1969’s (soundtrack for Börje series), Gregory Dwane and The Terminal Buildings. I also included Myriam Gendron’s album that originally came out 2014, because it just got a new UK/Euro release on Basin Rock. That would easily be album of the week / month / year, but I already know that by heart. If you missed it before, please do give it a listen because it’s an amazing album.

A lot of gorgeous Finnish releases this week. The highlight for me is the new Ite Eerola album. Again written and recorded in just three days. Somehow they are always able to make a great record in such a short time frame. One of my favorite artists in the Finland/World at the moment. We also got excellent new album from Knife Girl, Jaakko Eino Kalevi and Punainen Planeetta plus singles from Amuri, Mikko Joensuu, Oho!, Voikukat, Antti Autio, Brian & Helvetin Peruna, Rebekka Holi and Madame T & Siniset Veljet.

New Willi Carlisle is the international song of the week. Another hard hitter there. Love it so much. Other early faves came from The Lemonheads, Bory, Michael Nau, Miko Marks & The Resurrectors feat Melissa Carper, John Craigie and TK & The Holy Know-Nothings, BenBen, Emily Barker and Billy Allen + The Pollies. Again just to name a few.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. Back again next week. Until then love love love.

A few Bandcamp cuts for the lovely non-streamers:

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to Tidal. This means a few tracks might be missing from the Tidal version, if they are not available on that platform. Usually it’s 1-3 tracks that are not on Tidal. There’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
