OCTA New Music Weekly – Episode #256

A quick fever-ish covid edition of the new music weekly. My head hurts and I’m sure I forgot some stuff. Probably even things I promised to include. My apologies. I also couldn’t listen a lot due to the headache either, so I just quickly picked something I liked from each record. Still wanted to do it, because it was a great release week and many of these will end up on my aoty lists in a month or so.

The album of the week is the new Jeffrey Martin album. A lot of great songwriting there. Kelly Sloan, Andrew Bryant and Julie Arsenault are always big faves too. Then there’s also great new ones from Bry Webb, Skyway Man, Bonnie Montgomery, Jaime Wyatt, Fever Feel, Matthew McNeal (EP), Fortunato Durutti Marinetti, Geordie Gordon, Luxury Skin, David Ritschard, Christian Kjellvander, Laura Veirs, Teenage Tom Petties, Summer Set, memorytown, Gabriel Birnbaum, Thorsten Nesch (EP), Hannah White and The Smashing Times.

A really big release week in Finland too. A new awesome double-LP from Salaliitto, great debut full-lenghts from Krypta and Tender Lakes, new english-language album from Joose Keskitalo plus singles from Tams, Kiss Disease, Iisa, Lovers Left Alive, HXA, Janeveera, Lau Nau, Colorblue and Markus Asunta. Oh and one few months old single from a band called Toinen Maisema. I missed it back then, but thankfully finally got the memo because I love this song.

Some great international singles too from Joe Pug, Leslie Stevens, Junior Scaife, Frog, Vincent Neil Emerson, Antonia Estelle, Matthew Doc Dunn and the likes.

That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. Back next week with another episode of this silly little playlist. Mostly likely on Sunday, because I have a workday on Saturday (as long as I’ve shaken off this covid thing before that). Love from a distance.

A few Bandcamp cuts for the lovely non-streamers:

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you

I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to Tidal. This means a few tracks might be missing from the Tidal version, if they are not available on that platform. Usually it’s 1-3 tracks that are not on Tidal. There’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.

If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
