Oh dear. What a release week. I almost threw in the towel. Way too much for one man to cover on one weekend. I’m sure I missed some just because I didn’t have enough time to listen everything. Let’s get started right away without pointless ramblings.
No clear cut album of the week, because I haven’t really listened full albums yet. Some big ones in the rootsy side of things. For example Turnpike Troubadours returned and Zach Bryan released a new one. A big personal fave Steve Sloane released a couple of new albums on Bandcamp a while ago. Now he put one of them on streaming. I started with a song from that, because I love that guy. Another a bit less-known personal favorite Joey O’Neil also released a new album. Then on the indie rock / power pop side of things we have a great new Ratboys album. Other new albums on this monster release week came from Hiss Golden Messenger, Buck Meek, Roselit Bone, Old Crow Medicine Show, Bob Lefevre and the Already Gone, Strawberry Runners, Ruth Garbus, Becca Mancari, Mipso, Ora Cogan, Nina de Vitry, Sonny & The Sunsets, Drew Beskin (EP), The Cowboys, Montana Book Club (EP), Kendra Morris, Tim Knol, Say She She, Rissi Palmer (EP) and The Two Tracks.
Big Finnish release week too led by the new Pekko Käppi & K:H:H:L album. Listened it through today while walking around the city and loved every second of it. A special one for sure. There’s also most likely great new albums from Vasas flora och fauna and Emppu plus an EP from Too Slow. I’ll listen them properly during the coming days. Well I did spend some time with the Too Slow EP and thought it was gorgeous collection of slacker pop / power pop. My kinda stuff for sure. Oh yeah and then we have new singles from Maria Milvus, Babel, Knife Girl, Iisa, Amuri, Tuomo & Markus and Kaikki turhat haaveet.
The international singles are bit buried on the latter half of the playlist, because this week was so crowded with album releases and I always start with those. The single of the week is the new Jeffrey Martin song. It’s the first outtake from his next album that is coming out in November on Fluff & Gravy Records / Loose Music. So don’t submit your AOTY ballots until you’ve heard that one. Other early faves came from Evan Cheadle, Abby Hamilton, Steven Adams, Nico Hedley, Alli Sunshine, The Resonant Rogues, Rosali, Willy Tea Taylor & The Fellership, Jerry Leger, Evangeline Gentle and so forth. Just to name a few. I even had to leave a lot out, because this was getting longer than anyone will listen.
That’s all for now. Like, share, follow and all the usual promotional nonsense. It all matters. Back next week with another selection unless this gets overwhelming. Almost did this week. Phew. But I managed to put something together. Hope you enjoy it and maybe it even helps you divide the release calendar into something manageable. Love and other forms of gratitude.

Oh and do buy the vinyl/cd/download. Spotify and other streaming services are perfect for these introductory purposes, but try to buy at least the music that matter the most to you
I’ll make the playlist on Spotify and then transfer it to Tidal. This means a few tracks might be missing from the Tidal version, if they are not available on that platform. Usually it’s 1-3 tracks that are not on Tidal. There’s a bunch of older episodes on my Spotify profile, if you miss an episode or want to revisit.
If you are looking this after a week has gone, the embedded Spotify will show the latest playlist. I’ll just update the same playlist because if someone wants to follow it, they can just follow that one list and will get a new set of songs each weekend.
